Taut, Bruno

Alpine Architecture in 5 parts and 30 drawings

Hagen, Folkwang-Verlag 1919

40 x 34 cm. One sheet each for the main title, contents, and five sheets for the subtitles, as well as 30 sheets, eight of which are color drawings, some with gold or silver highlights. Original cardboard with silver-embossed title. - Bruno Taut's most important publication. The moral and intellectual basis for "Alpine Architecture" was provided primarily by the poet Paul Scheerbart with his poetic-utopian proposal to cover the Alps with glass, crystal palaces. In Taut's vision, the project would require a construction budget of 865 million marks by 1933 and be completed with an additional 500 million. A flawless copy of this major social-utopian publication. Very rare.
