Smoothed black original morocco leather, the covers with a large cross of broad gilded lines as the centerpiece, surrounded by several halos of fine curved lines, the title in the six spine panels hand-gilded, bronzed endpapers, and gilt head edges. In original slipcase. (Signed: O. Dorfner-Weimar). - The outstanding binding was published in color in "Zwischen Van de Velde und Bauhaus." The full-page original woodcuts by van de Velde's student Max Thalmann (1890-1944) were published as a portfolio in 1920.
