Bound in antique calf parchment by Karl Ebert and Frieda Thiersch. Based on the oldest German translation by L. E. Vischer from 1720. Ernst Schulte-Strathaus wrote of this book: "Anyone who loves beautifully illustrated books and has the money should buy this magnificent work; it outweighs the shock of other modern illustrated books. I deeply regret that the treasure contained in this beautiful book must remain inaccessible to wider circles because of its high price (RM 1,150). Anyone who owns these two books, Slevogt's Cortez and Robinson Crusoe, can safely let the current flood of illustrated books pass by for a while; a third pearl won't wash ashore anytime soon." The most beautiful Robinson Crusoe edition of the 20th century. - Jentsch L 92-93. - Rodenberg 350.
