In original slipcase. One of 30 numbered copies of the deluxe edition on Japanese paper. This deluxe edition was created specifically for the 1900 Paris World's Fair. It features 38 color woodcuts, 16 chromolithographs in gold and numerous colors on plates, as well as rich, partly colored book decorations. Text from the Hohenems-Munich manuscript of the Nibelungenlied. "The Nibelung" is a seamless work of art. The typeface, typography, vignettes, and illustrations were by Joseph Sattler. "A proud work of German book art" (Hans Loubier). It is unlikely that this rarity will be offered again in the foreseeable future.
