Van den Machandelboom - Vom Machandelbaum - The Juniper. A fairy tale written by Philipp Otto Runge, included in the collection of the Brothers Grimm. The introduction includes some excerpts from the "Physiologus" about the Phoenix bird. Also included are the "Song of the Bird" in twenty-three versions and five related fairy tales. The conclusion is the first five verses of the third chapter of Exodus. With illustrations and initials by Roswitha Quadflieg.
