4th edition. Engraved title and XVI. 88 pages. With 7 engravings after Monnet. Original 19th-century red morocco binding with spine title, rich gilt, cover fillets, and full gilt edges. - Le Temple de Gnide is and remains Montesquieu's title of glory. The seven charming engravings were engraved by Baquoy, Delaunay, Helman, Masquelier, Née, and Ponce. An additional copper plate from the 1772 edition, engraved by Le Mire after a drawing by Ch. Eisen, has been bound with this copy. A very fine copy in a decorative binding. Immaculately preserved. - Cohen 245-246.
