Elisabeth Mann Borgese, one of the "children" in the story, wrote her foreword especially for this edition and signed all copies. Thomas Mann's short story was first published in 1930 under the title "Tragic Travel Experiences." The binding was made by Roland Meuter of Ascona. The colored etchings, created exclusively for this edition by Kurt Steinel, were printed at the Willi Jesse copperplate printing house in Berlin. Steinel signed all etchings and the printing imprint. Published as the 7th printing by Antinous Presse. Immaculately preserved.
