Large folio. Title page and 10 original etchings. In original half-linen folder with title print. The set is dedicated to Arnold Böcklin. It was originally intended to be published with the subtitle "The Dramas, Part Two." All prints on cream-colored paper and under original mount. Signed "Max Klinger" lower left in the plate, inscribed "Opus X" lower right and numbered in Arabic. Sheet 6 is additionally inscribed "Intermezzo Adam and Eve and Death and the Devil" in the center and in the plate, and inscribed "cachinnus auditur diaboli" lower left. The individual titles are: I: Dedication - II: Encounter - III: At the Gate - IV: Kiss - V: Night - VI: Intermezzo - VII: New Dreams - VIII: Awakening - IX: Shame - X: Death. Like all editions, published only in a very small edition. Immaculately preserved. - Singer 157-166.
