Ehrenstein, Albert
The poems.
Leipzig / Prague / Vienna Publisher Ed. Strache (1920)
4th edition. 215 pages. Original blue morocco binding with spine title and gilt edges. First edition and one of 300 copies of the special edition. Dedicated copy to "Hilde and Walter Schatzki in memory of Albert Ehrenstein. Frankfurt, Autumn 1927." Ehrenstein was one of the central figures of Viennese literary Expressionism. In 1910, the poem "Wanderer's Song," published by his patron Karl Kraus in the magazine Die Fackel, made him instantly world famous. "Kill yourself! my knife says to me. I lie in the mire; high above me, my enemies ride in chariots across the moon's rainbow." A fine copy.
