This masterpiece by the Limburg brothers contains 172 radiant miniatures, surrounded by delicate decorative frames and up to 500 golden ivy leaves on each page. The "Belles Heurs" are distinguished from all other books of hours by their exuberant wealth of gold. The time the patron and his three talented artists worked together was brief. However, in the little more than ten years they worked for Jean de Berry, the Limburgs revolutionized painting. Nowhere else is their sparkling spirit and inexhaustible creativity so perfectly captured as in the "Belles Heurs." Published in 980 numbered copies. Enclosed is the commentary volume by Eberhard König with 220 pages and 35 illustrations. In immaculate condition.
