Only this edition included an extra suite of the 14 full-page etchings. The novel's main character is the dog Dingo, who is trained to attack people Octave Mirbeau hates—clergymen, officers, politicians, bankers, and so on. Mirbeau was the most scandalous author of his time. This copy is in a master binding by the Swiss bookbinder Jean-Luc Honegger.
