Folio 45 x 33 cm. 15, 140 pages. With numerous collotypes in the text and 42 full-page plates. - Original brown morocco binding on 5 ribs. With blind-embossed and gilt cover fillets all around, corner fleurons on the front and back covers. Gilded inner edges, endpapers covered in silk moiré. Gold-embossed spine title and full gilt edges. - One of 125 numbered copies. The Otto Beit Collection was famous for its outstanding paintings by Jan Vermeer, Rembrandt, Gabriel Metsu, Jan Steen, Salomon van Ruysdael, Meindert Hobbema, Frans Hals, Van Dyk, Tintoretto, Jacob van Ruisdael, Jean Baptiste Greuze, Lorenzo di Credi, as well as bronzes by Andrea Riccio, Lorenzo Bernini, and others. The endpaper with a handwritten dedication by Otto Beit. The collotype plates were printed on handmade Japanese paper from Tokyo. All illustrations are of excellent print quality. - A very fine copy.
